Project Description

Annie Bowles founded Sugarfree Media in 2017. Since then, she has grown her following to over 35,000 on Instagram, 10,000 on Tiktok, and launched News Du Jour podcast (a daily news podcast geared towards young women) which has garnered over 80,000 downloads. News Du Jour has ranked in the top 100 Daily
News Podcasts in America on the Apple charts, and has been invited to cover major events in person such as New York Fashion Week, The United Nation’s 75th General Assembly, and the Young Champions of the Earth Gala. Sugarfree Media has worked with major brands such as Lindt Chocolate, Bose headphones,
Dermalogica, Revlon, EOS lip balm, Roku, and many more. She has received extensive press – the New York Times even covered her wedding and she was featured as an “industry disruptor” by the Oklahoma Women’s Journal in 2023.

Growing up, Annie was born in Washington DC, spent four years as an expat in Brussels Belgium with her family, then attended high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 2013, she graduated from American University where she studied abroad in India and Italy, as well as interning on both sides of Capitol Hill and on the Smithsonian. Today, Annie is also a proud wife, mother, rescue dog mom, and runner. She was diagnosed with Gastroparesis in 2015 and POTS in 2023, and while chronic illness has shaped her life, she knows it ultimately pulled her closer to her purpose.

Reviews for Annie

“As part of the first all-female and all-millennial presentation in OKCER history, Annie set the standard. Her preparation so thorough we decided to utilize guest moderators henceforth. A number of attendees suggested we invite her for a return engagement.”

Stephen Lalli, Chair of the Oklahoma City Economic Roundtable

“Annie won our 2022 Woman of the Year Award and delivered the keynote for our Exceptional Women’s Brunch. She was nominated by the students and her talk inspired our group of young women to take their learning to the next level. She helped connect what happens in the classroom to what their future could look
like.”

Angie Austin, Advisor to the UCO AAUW club

“Annie came to speak at my sorority chapter meeting at TCU. She was so relatable and engaging. She was an eye-opening speaker and we learned a lot from her!”

Olivia Butkin, TCU Kappa kappa gamma sorosity member
